In the video Palace of the Sun, the Solar Institute in Parkent, built in 1987 with a utopian faith in the future, is presented as a space where reality and memory intertwine and where the physical landscape meets its digital reflection.
Using LiDAR scanning, point cloud technology, light, and camera movement, the video creates a visual path in which the space gradually comes to life. The camera follows a beam of light as it moves through the heliostatic field, laboratories, and architectural elements. In the natural landscape near Parkent, the light breaks through the clouds, and the figure of Helios appears—a symbol of solar energy and the pursuit of utopia.
The boy in the frame is the bearer of memory. He grew up beside the Institute, witnessing its construction. The beam of light becomes his path, from a child’s gaze to mature reflection. The light carries his feelings, his memory, and time. Everything he has experienced becomes a reflection of the utopia.
