Vladimir Burmakin, 1984
Oil on canvas, 180 x 200cm. Collection of the Directorate of Art Exhibitions of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan
Top row from left to right: A.A. Yuldashev, M.S. Saidov, K.G. Gulyamov, I.M. Chernov; bottom row from left to right: S.A. Azimov, V.M. Chudakov, P.K. Khabibullaev
The celebrative and heroic dimension of Burmakin’s work, commissioned by Sadyk Azimov, founder of the Heliocomplex, is reflected in both the scale and the choice of the subject: a group of Tashkent scientists, including Azimov and some of his students, in conversation with other relevant academic figures in front of the model of the big solar concentrator, still under construction. The formula depicted in the background has no meaning in physics and was probably added by the artist to suggest the complexity of the discussion.
