The model illustrates an unrealized version of the project. While it does not exactly match the built reality, it stands in the foyer of the Solar Institute to explain to visitors how the complex is organised. The model is the starting point for every tour of the complex, just as it does for Pavilion visits.
The presence of this model is an important statement about the current transparency of an institution with an ambivalent past, and conveys its openness to dialogue with visitors, collaborate with international institutions, and educate new generations of scientists.
The model was restored by architecture students of Ajou University in Tashkent, preserving the original materials and textures. The sculptural composition of the complex and its strategic placement on a hill—as if it were a work of land art—emerge from the bird’s eye perspective offered by the model.
